Orthopaedic surgeons specialise in the branch of medicine which deals with the correction of deformities of the bones or muscles. Mr. Moreau specialises in the musculoskeletal system of the Hand and Upper Limb which is essential for movement and everyday life.
Personal information
Piers is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in disorders of the hand and upper limb. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is also a Faculty Member of the AO Hand and Wrist Group.
He is a Consultant Surgeon based at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital Oswestry, where he sees NHS for general orthopaedic trauma and specialised hand and wrist surgery. He is also based at the Princess Royal Hospital, Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust. He consults privately at Charlesworth Court in Shrewsbury, The Shropshire Nuffield, St. Michael’s Clinic in Shrewsbury and Rowley Hall Hospital in Stafford.
He has particular interests in all aspects of hand and wrist surgery, including keyhole, osteoarthritis, Dupuytren’s contracture, nerve compressions, carpal tunnel and elbow surgery.

Piers was educated at Eton College, going on to study at Jesus College, Cambridge, then completing his medical education at St. Bartholomews Medical School in London. He qualified in 1991, and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995. He moved to Shropshire in 1997, completing his training on the renowned Stoke and Oswestry rotation, becoming a Consultant in 2003. He is Fellowship Trained in hand and wrist surgery, having worked at the Pulvertaft Unit at Derby Royal Infirmary as part of his training.
Piers is married with two children, his family take up most of his spare time. However, his hobbies include rugby, skiing, fishing and training his badly behaved Labradors.
